Will Tell and the Big Bad Baron - Fideri Fidera / Applause

event details

Hosted by Theatre Fideri Fidera / Applause

This original show for families introduces a new legendary figure to British drama: the ‘Swiss Robin Hood’, Wilhelm Tell, who refused to bow to a tyrant and famously had to shoot an apple off his child’s head with a crossbow as a punishment.

A fun-filled colourful comic adventure with capers around castles, damsels in distress, a jaw-dropping joust with horse puppets, woven together with engaging storytelling and catchy original songs.

Join plucky heroine Will as disguised as a knight she rides off on her donkey Rosina to rescue her folk hero dad Wilhelm Tell from the wicked Baron Boris’s deepest darkest dungeon.

Inspired by the exploits of her father and the tales of Robin Hood and Sir Lancelot, Will knows all about standing up to tyrants but nothing has prepared her for when the Baron’s daughter Edel falls madly in love with her and wants to be rescued too. But can Will, with just pots and pans for armour and a farm donkey for a steed, rescue Edel and defeat the Big Bad Baron?

Fringe Review

Theatre Fideri Fidera are an artist-led Anglo-Swiss children’s theatre company dedicated to creating new and original work. For us, theatre needs to be accessible, entertaining and above all a shared experience with audiences. Our first three plays: Pitschi, the Kitten with Dreams, Oskar’s Amazing Adventures, Ugg ‘n’ Ogg and the World’s First Dogg have had over 250 performances in the UK at venues such as The Lowry, MAC, Arc Stockton, The Boo, Lighthouse Poole, Dukes Lancaster, Dundee Rep, Warwick Arts Centre, Lyric Hammersmith, Jackson’s Lane, and the Half Moon. To reach as wide an audience as possible we make sure our plays work just as well in a village hall as in a large theatre and we have toured with eleven Rural Touring Schemes including Applause, Spot on, and Arts Reach.

This is a performance for everyone to enjoy! Tickets can be purchased via a pay-what-you-can donation of £8, £10, or £12. Children under the age of 3 can come along for free!
